How did he come into your life?
We were deeply saddened with the passing of our previous dog Scooter who was off leash in the driveway and took off after a siren (ambulance) that just flicked on as they were passing the house. Well Scooter caught it and that was the end! We knew Scooter would want us to rescue a new pet so we went and adopted Gunner from the Humane Society.
Significance of his name, if any:
The Humane Society called him “Chevy” but I’m a Ford man and I also do some competitive shooting thus the name Gunner.
Favorite treat:
Going to the dog park in our truck and anything he can chew!
Most memorable thing your pet has ever done:
Getting rescued from the Humane Society. He was dropped off there by someone who claimed to have found him and thought he had Parvo. When they found out he didn’t, he was adopted out to a family with small children. He ‘allegedly’ growled or bit at one who stuck their hands by his food dish so they returned him for a couple cats. That’s when we came along! (but he never growled or bit at us when we put our hands by his food dish)!
Funny or unusual habit:
Likes to run up/down stairs and through the house at full throttle.
If your pet had a job/profession, what would it be?
Excavator as he likes to dig.
If your pet could speak one sentence out loud, what would he say?
When is my buddy “Reggie” coming to play? (our daughter’s dog who lives a few blocks away also adopted from the Humane Society).
Anything else you’d like to share:
Gunner LOVES to chase his toy balls and frisbees but he is reluctant to give them up so we can throw them again. What a coincidence Scooter was a June pet of the month also back in 2018! A big Thank You to Rover Rehab/John Lawrence who helped us with some issues we were having with Gunner.
