July 2020's Pet of the Month is Gretchen!

Family:

Ashley Mann (mom), Alex Shirley (dad), and Gus the Golden Retriever (brother)

Age:

8 years

How did she come into your life?

Gretchen was adopted by my stepdad when I was in Nursing school and living at home still. Gretchen bonded with me and always laid on my books as I studied. Unfortunately, my stepdad passed away 2 years ago and I gladly took her as my own.

Significance of her name, if any:

Gretchen’s name is after the character “Gretchen Weiners” in Mean Girls because her hair is full of secrets.

Favorite treat:

Salmon pate wet food

Most memorable thing your pet has ever done:

Gretchen knows how to play hide and seek. She loves to be the seeker.

Funny or unusual habit:

Everyday at 5pm sharp she starts meowing for her wet cat food, but she only limits herself to 1 spoonfull, never the entire can. (She watches her figure)

If your pet had a job/profession, what would it be?

FBI agent, Gretchen loves to sneak around and investigate.

If your pet could speak one sentence out loud, what would she say?

”Mom, how dare you get that annoying new puppy even though he’s cute”

Anything else you’d like to share:

I would like to personally thank the Janesville Humane Society for giving me such a great cat with the most perfect attitude. They saved her when she was a stray and I could never imagine my house without her now.
