When it comes to our pets, we all want to know that the medications we’re giving them are safe and effective. That’s why we want to make our JVC families aware of an important recall involving certain veterinary medications from Wedgewood Pharmacy.

On October 21, 2026, Wedgewood Pharmacy announced a voluntary nationwide recall of certain compounded veterinary medications due to concerns about their potency.

We know the word recall can sound scary, especially when it involves a medication your beloved pet may be taking. But don’t panic! We’re here to help you understand what’s happening and what steps to take.

What Is Being Recalled?

Wedgewood Pharmacy specializes in compounded medications. These are medications specially prepared to meet an individual animal’s needs, such as a particular dosage, formulation, or flavor that makes giving medication a little easier. (And as pet parents, we know that can be a VERY good thing!)

The recall involves certain medications shipped between February 18 and October 6, 2026.

According to Wedgewood, inconsistencies in laboratory testing data raised concerns that some medications could contain:

  • Too little active ingredient: Meaning the medication may not work as intended.
  • Too much active ingredient: Potentially increasing the risk of side effects, toxicity, or overdose.

The recall includes various forms of medication, including oral liquids, powders, pastes, injectable medications, eye and ear treatments, and topical products.

Importantly, not every Wedgewood medication is necessarily affected. The recall applies to specific products and lots, which can be identified through the company’s official recall list.

What Should You Do if Your Pet Takes a Wedgewood Medication?

First, don’t assume your pet’s medication has been recalled simply because it came from Wedgewood Pharmacy.

Here’s what we recommend:

  1. Check your medication. Look at the label for the medication name, lot number, and expiration date. Compare that information with Wedgewood’s official recall list.
  2. If your medication is affected, stop using that product. Keep the medication and its packaging rather than throwing them away.
  3. Check with your veterinarian. Some pets depend on medications to manage ongoing health conditions, so it’s important to discuss an appropriate alternative and avoid unnecessary interruptions in treatment.
  4. Contact Wedgewood’s recall support team. They can provide information about the recall and available refunds or replacements.

What if My Pet Has Already Taken One of These Medications?

If your pet has received an affected medication, it does not automatically mean they’ve been harmed.

However, because the concern involves the amount of active ingredient, it’s important to pay attention to any unusual symptoms, changes in behavior, or signs that the medication isn’t managing your pet’s condition as expected.

If your pet is experiencing severe symptoms, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
